In spite of their goal to sell more magazines, the great folks at Business Q used Riser’s own, Mike Janda, on the cover of the winter edition of their mag to help promote their article, “The Cool Kids: Utah Valley’s 10 Hippest and Happenin’ Entrepreneurs”. Let the “fifteen minutes of fame clock” begin… tick, tock, tick, tock…

Riser Holiday Sham-a-Lam 2011

It’s that time of year again! The Riser team gathered together to fill their bellies with egg nog punch and their hearts with holiday cheer at the Janda’s residence for the annual Holiday Sham-a-Lam. The usual activities ensued… foosball battles, pool sharking and gluttony. This year’s highlight, as all would agree, was the the iPad 2 gifted to each employee. The smell of aluminum and high quality packaging filled the Riserites hearts like Santa’s bowl full of jelly. We’re already looking forward to next year’s festivities!

Riser Sings Monster Mash

These two minor stumbling blocks didn’t stop the Riser team from performing their rendition of Monster Mash as a Halloween treat for their fan. Yep, I said “fan” (thanks Mom for your support). Awwwards Site of the Day

Horn-tootin!!! The Riser portfolio site won an ‘Awwwards Site of the Day’ which also assures its inclusion in the book ‘The 365 best css websites around the world. 2011.’ The award will be published on Monday, September 5, 2011.

Awwwards are the awards that recognize and promote the talent and effort of the best developers, designers and web agencies in the world.

An international jury made up of some of the most important designers, bloggers and Internet agencies, evaluates each site by means of a strict system of evaluation; scoring it on a scale of 1 to 10 for its Design, Creativity, Usability and Content.

Portfolio Spotlight: Babyz Fish Tank / Bratz

Riser was hired by Bratz to create a virtual fish tank game. Riser designed, illustrated, animated, and programmed the Flash game which allows users to manage multiple fish tanks, design the look of their tank, breed fish, view each fish’s pedigree chart, clean their tank, feed their fish, sell fish, buy fish, hire a Bratz babysitter, the list goes on and on! Time continues to pass even when the user isn’t playing, so they are incented to come back to the site regularly to make sure their fish are healthy and happy. If the fish are not taken care of they will die (see the last screenshot :-). For years this game has been one of the most popular games on the Bratz website.

RISER of the PLANET of the APES

The Riser team took a long lunch to catch 20th Century Fox’s latest blockbuster, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Not only was it better than working, the movie made a few of us less embarrassed (and possibly even proud) of our hairy backs and itchy pits. Portfolio Spotlight: Lego Batman / Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. enlisted Riser Media to build the online marketing campaign for the Lego Batman Video Game. The interactive package, included the website, widgets, and rich media banners. The website features Riser Media’s unique talent in Flash creativity.

Portfolio Spotlight: Nike T-Shirt Contest / NBC Sports

In 2011, Riser was hired by NBC/Universal Sports to create a T-Shirt contest for Nike’s Destroy Yesterday campaign. Riser designed and programmed an online tool that allowed users to upload T-Shirt designs. The backend systems also accommodated the need for in-house moderation and external voting to select a winner.
