Jandaco was recently revealed as the 17th Fastest Growing Company in Utah County in Business Q Magazine. I suppose you can’t expect anyone else to toot your horn for you. So here is our horn tooting. Our research revealed that there are approximately 10,000 business in Utah County and 500,000 people. So, while we may not be #1, we’ll certainly take #17.

UV 17Jandaco is listed on the bottom of the middle column on the page above. You can read the full article on the Business Q website here.

The folks at Business Q through a fancy gala for the award winners and our rough count had a few hundred people in attendance.

Jason HewlettAt the UV 50 Gala celebrity impersonator, Jason Hewlett, wowed the audience with his hysterically funny show. We’ve seen him a few times and it never gets old. Be sure to check out his promotional video.

Since we didn’t drag our whole team to the official UV Gala, we decided to throw our own little in house celebration. Our party included a Jandaco history quiz (with prizes for everyone), balloons, and an uncomfortable video shoot where each Jandacan was interviewed. Be sure not to miss the videos on our “Accolades” page.

Jeff Jolley and I spent last week in sunny L.A. It is always refreshing for me to wander my old stomping grounds. The weather was amazing (especially coming out of the piles of snow we endured this past winter.) We really enjoyed the week - especially spending some face time with our beloved clients. This trip included lunches and meetings with: Fox Movie Channel, ABC Family, Neopets, T-Works (at WB), Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and TV Guide. (Note to clients: This list is not in order of our appreciation and love for each of you.) Being “family-less” for the week provided us the opportunity to catch up on some movies. Here are the reviews…

  • 10,000 B.C. = nicely put, it left a little to be desired
  • Vantage Point = a decent rental
  • Jumper = a decent rental
  • 10000 BCIf you judge 10,000 B.C. by the trailer and posters then… it rocks!

We also had a chance to get some “mug shots” as our recently released “Ugly Mug” made its first trip to Hollywood.

Ugly Mug in TrafficThe Ugly Mug didn’t like LA traffic any better than we did.

ABC BuildingSchedules didn’t match up to visit our friends at ABC this trip. Jeff claims he saw Jay Leno driving on the freeway ahead of us. He tried to catch him. But our rental SUV didn’t have the guts that his little convertible roadster did.

WB LotWe spent a good chunk of our trip at Warner Bros., enjoying time with a few of the groups we work with.

JandacocoaWe took a little Jandacocoa with us to Universal City Walk.

Disney Channel BuildingWe spend a ton of time in the Disney Channel building where we have many clients.

In N OutAn LA trip (and life for that matter) would not be complete without a Double Double at In-N-Out. The Ugly Mug agrees.

The esteemed Robert Stevens and I had the opportunity recently to venture forth from the Jandacave and travel to Southern California for a photo shoot. We can’t divulge any details, as it pertained to a top secret client developing a top secret project, but we can say that it was a great experience and that it involved Hannah Montana.

Dave and HannahHannah was kind enough to carve out a few minutes from her busy schedule for a quick snapshot with me.

Ok, it didn’t involve her in the physical sense. She wasn’t actually there, but two Hannah-sized mannequins, a whole rack of Hannah Montana apparel, and a table full of Hannah Montana merchandise was there. That counts, right?

Hannah MerchA cornucopia of Montana swag.

After two days of grueling photo shoot work, Rob and I made a mandatory stop at In ‘N Out and later caught “Vantage Point” at Universal CityWalk.

In ‘N OutRob and I couldn’t have looked more excited.

We loved the burgers but questioned Matthew Fox {SPOILER ALERT} being cast as the bad guy. Jack is not the bad guy. He’s just not.

The numbers are in. The audit is complete. Jandaco is officially the 17th fastest growing company in Utah Valley as highlighted in the Spring 2008 issue of Business Q Magazine. This ranking was based on the 2005-2007 three year period where Jandaco’s growth was 139%. (To breakdown that math… we doubled in revenue plus another 39% since 2005.) We did our own internal research and found that their are 10,000+ business in Utah Valley and 500,000+ people. We’ll be posting another blog entry on this story after Business Q launches the online version of the article soon.

Jeff spent a couple of days in San Francisco this week attending GDC (Game Developers Conference) and meeting with clients. It turned out to be a star studded event and a good opportunity to photograph the “Ugly Mug” on the run!

rupert.jpgYes, that’s Rupert from Survivor, still in the tie-dye and still loads of fun for the crowd!

mugport.jpgThe Mug was like any other sailor coming home to port after a long journey at sea!

guitarmug.jpgThis guy was so happy about the mug, Jeff left it with him as part of a long term advertising agreement.
